
Jenson Button to lead Honda’s Civic Type R time attack in 2018
Honda is ready to defend its class leading status of the Civic Type-R by using multiple racing drivers to set new benchmark laps on famous racetracks around the world.
Joining the racing team line-up would be the former Formula 1 World Champion and current NSX Super GT driver Jenson Button, WTCR driver Tiago Monteiro (Portugal), Esteban Guerrieri (Argentina) and NSX Super GT star Bertrand Baguette (Belgium). More drivers could be joining the team in the future.

Jenson Button will take the lead in attempt to break multiple lap records including Silverstone (UK), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Estoril (Portugal) and other tracks that are set to be announced by Honda in the future. The Honda Civic Type-R currently holds the lap record for the fastest front-wheel drive production car with a time of 7:43:80 on the famous Nurburgring Norschleife track in Germany.
Here’s a little technical specifications for the the Honda Civic Type-R. It is powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine that pushes out 306HP at 6,500 RPM and 400NM of torque from 2,500 RPM to 4,500 RPM. The car tops out at 272 km/h and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
